Criminal Law Overview

Theft Crimes

California Theft and Shoplifting Charges Attorney
Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside and Orange County

Fill out our Criminal Defense Intake Form to tell us about your case.

Having a theft conviction on your record can mean serious, long-term consequences. It can prevent you from getting a job in many industries; it can even prevent you from obtaining professional licensure.

Theft can be charged as a felony or a misdemeanor criminal offense, depending upon the value of the items in question and prior convictions. If the value of the items is less than $400, it is generally a petty misdemeanor with a potential sentence of six months in county jail and a fine. If the value of the stolen items is more than $400, you may be facing a grand theft charge, time in county jail or prison and up to $10,000 fine.

If you're facing theft charges of any kind, contact a California theft crimes defense lawyer who will always put your interests first. I have been representing people on criminal charges for more than 31 years. I know the California courts and the law and have represented thousands of people throughout my career.

  • Shoplifting
  • Petty theft
  • Grand theft
  • Robbery
  • Auto theft

Juvenile Crime
Many lawyers don't handle juvenile offenders. I do. Some theft crimes are primarily committed by juveniles, such as car theft and petty theft. Shoplifting offenses are also common. I defend young people charged in adult or juvenile courts. Contact my office to get an experienced theft crimes defense attorney working immediately on your case.

Receiving Stolen Property
Receiving stolen property is a theft offense but you can only be charged with receiving stolen property if you knew it was stolen.

White Collar Crime
Also called economic crime, white collar crime is typically theft committed in the workplace or on a broader scale, such as credit card theft or fraud, identity theft, or embezzlement.
